Simon Pryke (Alderman)

Simon was elected as Alderman for Langbourn in November 2023.  He is the CEO and Managing Partner of Findlay Park, an independent asset manager focused on investing in North American companies. Previous roles include Chief Investment Officer and Head of Private Wealth at the global multi-asset investment firm Newton.  

Simon has spent many years researching and investing in global banks and insurance companies, a particular interest is the evolution of regulation and how it impacts financial market participants.   His non-executive appointments include acting as a trustee of the Courtauld Gallery’s art collection


Tim Butcher (Deputy)

Tim has worked in the Lloyd’s market as both a broker and casualty underwriter for over four decades. He was involved in many construction projects throughout the world and in particular projects in the City of London including Crossrail.

Tim is an underwriting member of Lloyd’s.

Tim was a Governor of a special needs school where he oversaw the expansion of the school and a successful Ofsted rating.

Tim is a Liverymen and additional Court Assistant of the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers.


Matthew Waters (Common Councillor)

Matthew is a business leader with over 25 years’ experience in the London Insurance Market. He is the founder of two specialist recruitment and executive search businesses, working with leading firms across the Square Mile.

A proud Liveryman and active member of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, Matthew is committed to strengthening the City’s future through community engagement, business vibrancy and inclusive leadership.

As Common Councillor for Langbourn Ward, he brings a practical, forward-thinking approach – supporting local businesses, promoting responsible governance and enhancing the day to day experience of working and visiting the City.


Philip Woodhouse (Common Councillor)

Philip Woodhouse has had a long and close working relationship with the City going back to 1974 when he worked as a messenger. Returning to the City in 1979, he worked on the Commodity Futures Exchange in Mark Lane trading cocoa, coffee, and sugar. He worked at E D & F Man for 18 years before moving to Tate & Lyle until 2002. He then re-established his family’s commodity business, which can trace its origins back to 1750 in St Dunstan’s Hill.

His many years of commercial experience, both in the City and overseas (including living in Nigeria for five years) give him the skills, knowledge, and contacts to act in your and the City’s best interests.

Outside of The City Philip chairs the Sandwich Community hub: Jubilee Centre in Sandwich, Kent. The Centre provides facilities for the local boxing club, the food pantry, two bands, The Citizen’s Advice and a soon to be opened Community Shed amongst other wellbeing opportunities.

Currently Chair of The City of London Freemen’s School,  Deputy Chair of The Livery Committee and The Markets Board. A Past Master of The Grocers Livery Company in 2012/3.

He is widowed with 3 sons, the eldest and youngest now also working in the City.
